Why I Always Recommend Squaresapce Over Wix
By the title of this post and the fact that I am a Squarespace designer, you might have figured this post is pro Squarespace and you’re right!
Both are “Website builders” meaning they work by dragging and dropping but all website builders are not created equal.
Let’s get right to it:
Wait, are you new here? I wrote these blog posts to help you out in your biz:

Free website plan ?
Yes, you can get Wix for free but anyone starting a business and wanting to be taken seriously should not opt for the free version.
Why?
The free plan does not allow you to have your own custom domain but rather will look like this:
“username.wixsite.com/siteaddress”
Plus you will have the Wix favicon appear on your site + Wix ads will appear on your site.
Templates
Wix may have more templates but they are not “out of the box” mobile responsive. Wix instead has mobile interface editor in which you can make your template more mobile responsive.
All of the Squarespace templates are mobile responsive from the moment you choose it!
Another huge downfall with Wix templates is that you can’t switch templates without having to rebuild your whole website content!
Open canvas vs. Structure
Like I mentioned earlier, both Squarespace and Wix are drag and drop platforms but Wix has an open canvas structure whereas Squarespace has more of a structure.
With Wix, you can drag and drop elements basically anywhere but this does not necessarily mean better design.
Customer support
If you’re like me then customer support is important to you. With Squarespace you get 24/7 email support and live chat on weekdays from 3am-8pm (EST). This means that if you email Squarespace in the middle of the night because you’re a night owl like me then you should expect a response within the next hour.
Wix does offer phone support but only from 5am-5pm(PST) or you can request for Wix to call you back.
Social proof
Last but not least is a little social proof. So who uses Squarespace?
Do any of these people/companies sound familiar:
Lyft
Keanu Reeves
John Malovich
Fast Company
Refinery29
Contently
The big players are choosing Squarespace of choice so, in my opinion, this says a lot.
